[PbP] Return to the Sea

Aeolius

Adventurer
After a bit of a hiatus, brought on when 3 players left in the same week (offline conflicts), "Beneath the Pinnacles of Azor'alq" (BPAA) is up and running once more.

WHO: Anyone interested in a 3e D&D World of Greyhawk message-based game (play-by-post) set beneath the surface of the sea. The current level of play is between 5 to 7. New players are welcome to create characters ranging from levels 3 through 5. So long as new characters can breathe underwater and swim, the rest is negotiable.

WHAT: BPAA has been running since 1998 or thereabouts. The campaign began in 1998, as a 1e AD&D pre-Wars GH game and switched to 3e D&D GH shortly after 3e arrived. The campaign, which uses the “core rules of 3e, select supplements from 2e, and the heart of 1e”, is designed for those interested in participating in a work of coauthored interactive fiction. The game will be utilizing the revised 3e rules when they debut next month. Campaign information may be found at http://www.lobi.com/bpaa/background

WHEN: New PCs will be incorporated into the campaign within a week of their approval.

HOW: In the campaign, I post a new "Chapter" once a week. During the week, the players respond to events in the Chapter, to NPCs, and to one another. I will add updates as time permits. The next week, I post a new Chapter. While this method of game play requires a degree of patience and the occasional spell-checker, I have found it one of the best options for those with hectic schedules.

WHERE: More information regarding the campaign and message-boards may be found at http://www.lobi.com/bpaa/recruit

WHY: I refuse to let this campaign fade into the depths. What I need are some players with entirely too much enthusiasm and the ability to keep their DM challenged creatively.

I was wondering when I would be getting more instructions on how to build a character... Like point buy or roll dice.. things like that.

Given that the game is message-based, stats play less of a role in the final say of things. As I am an old school DM, I default with "4d6 drop the lowest roll and arrange as you see fit". If you prefer a different method, such as point buy, I am open to that.

As for the race of the PC; so long as they can swim and breathe underwater I'm happy. ;)

Shouldn't this be in the talking the talk/playing the game threads?

Play-by-posts (message-based games) are hardly the norm, for online gaming. To top that off, my game is set underwater. So, I resort to desperate measures, on occasion. ;)

I go write her up and post her in a few hours.
