And that means...? Look. Food that's in the dumpster out back of my apartment is free, too. I'm not going to go eat it. Free does not mean quality. Free doesn't mean you don't have the right to complain. Especially in a message that was obviously a private email.

Free does mean that you do not have the right to complain. Yes, you can suggest and be civil about those suggestions, but you have a choice here...use it, or don't. Plain and simple. You don't pay any money to use the program, therefore you are not at a loss when you decide that it's not for you. Constructive criticizm by people who really want to use the software is always welcomed and encouraged. Compliants that stem from people not having patience or the gumption to actually take a little time to learn a piece of software that is still in BETA release. This is not a finished product and so many people seem to forget that. yes, we are attempting to make it more user friendly (you have no idea how many times i've banged my head against the wall to try to make a totally asinine idea work for the sake of the new user learning curve). So tell this guy to cut us a break. If he really is a programmer then he can understand exactly what BETA means and not to get so hostile because he couldn't make heads or tails of an unfinished product.
