[PClass Help] All Wizards Must Die

Katerek

Iconic Gnoll
Hey y'all (I love begining statements that way)

I was wondering if I could get some feedback from anyone perusing these threads.

I am looking to design a balanced Prestige Class, for a fighter type, that is especially hateful towards arcane casters.

My DM has setup a world where a ruling class of wizards are the big bad guys.

I play a Gnoll Ranger/Tribal Protector/Foe Hunter that is direly against the ruling class.

I was wondering how to go about creating a Mage Killer class (not the one in FR) as a prestige class.

I was thinking inherent SR and other resistances, but still being able to use magic. The class isn't about hating magic in general it would be about hating magic users. The foe Hunter and whatnot are cool, but I want more than just damage bonuses.

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe SR = (Level/2) (round down min 1)/ +(Level/5 round up).

Then you can give them Dispell Magic and Antimagic field as class abilities maybe dispell at 1st level, antimagic at 2nd level and give them another use per day like this 1,3,5,7,9 dispell extra time/day 2,4,6,8,10 antimagic extra time/day. Make it about 6 - 8 th level to take the class.

Here's a prototype off the top of my head:

The Mage Hunter

Requirements:
BAB: +6
Skills: Knowledge (Arcana) 2 ranks, Spellcraft 2 ranks
Special: Favored Enemy (arcan casters) (it's a stretch, but it shouldn't be hard to convince your GM about this)

HIt Die: d10
BAB: As Fighter
Good saves: Fort, Will

LV Special
01 Dispelling Strike 2/day
02 Arcane SR 15 + Cha bonus
03 Magehunting +1
04 Dispelling Strike 3/day
05 Arcane SR 17 + Cha bonus
06 Magehunting +2
07 Dispelling Strike 4/day
08 Arcane SR 19 + Cha bonus
09 Magehunting +3
10 Dispelling Strike 5/day, Spell Immunity

Dispelling Strike: Twice per day, the Magehunter may declare that an attack is a Dispelling Strike before they make their attack roll. If they hit, the target is subject to a targetted Dispell Magic. Treat the Mage Hunter as having a caster level equal to double their class level + their Charisma bonus. They may use this ability one extra time per day at levels 4, 7, and 10.

Arcane SR: The Mage Hunter gains Spell Resistance against Arcane spells. This spell resistance is 15 + Cha modifier at 2nd level, increases to 17 + Cha modifier at 5th level, and then 19 + Cha modifier at 8th level.

Magehunting: The Mage Hunter gains the listed bonus on all attacks, saves, checks, and damage against arcane casters. They also gain it as a bonus to AC and Saves against arcane magical effects.

Spell Immunity: Activating this ability is a free action, and it lasts for 3 + Cha modifier rounds. For the duration, the Mage Hunter becomes immune to a number of spells equal to their Charisma modifier. This ability is usable 3 times per day.

So, what do you think? Is the use of Charisma as the key ability appropriate?

Perhaps use the ability for the spell resistance bonus related to the save against the spell that you're using the resistance for. For instance, if it's a fireball spell, you can use your dex bonus for the spell resistance. If no saving throw is allowed, but a resistance applies, maybe use Cha as a default. Don't know about the mod for the Spell Immunity feature.

If you change your mind about this character using magic, Forsaker (DotF) is a good choice. Heck, instead of the destroying magic items as part of the PrC, maybe using the HD of the particular mages you want to kill as a sub.
