I own a lot of 3.5 books. Like a LOT of them.

Unfortunately lugging around the masses of those books is a huge pain in the proverbial ass.

Is it possible to collect all the various PDFs for the books and "splice them" together into a single handy reference PDF that includes all the races, items, spells, and so forth?

The SRDs are the best way to go if you just want the crunch. If you also want the fluff from the PDFs, what I do is to load them all into DEVONthink, a Mac app that can index and manage lots of file formats, including PDFs. It lets me annotate things, takes notes in RTF, and combine lots of stuff. It can also sync to iOS devices.

Adobe Acrobat allows you to cut and paste text, print individual pages, and "bind" together multiple pdf docs -- so yes there is a way. I use MS OneNote to organise links to specific pages in PDF rulebooks, copies of whole pages, and of course cut and paste text. I also use google chrome to allow easy access to PDFs I create myself.
