PDF: How To Allow User Modification of Text. Urgent!!!

HELP! I'm trying to make a pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 that the user can customize/modify (add/remove/replace text) on their own. I can't figure out how to do this. Can someone please help? It's urgent.

Also, I have another pdf question. For some reason in the test pdfs I've made, it takes forever (about a minute) for an email link to open up when the user clicks on it, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a clickable email address in the pdf. I enter the link as "mailto:" then the email address, which is correct, but I'm not happy with the response time. Anyway to hasten this besides casting a haste spell on my software? ;)

The only option for readers to add/change information in a pdf is to make the field a form. That then allows the reader to write in that space what they want to do.

You need to have Acrobat 6 Pro (NOT Standard) to do this, or an older version as that has forms normally. Best way I can think of to do this (please note it is not the only way) is to bring up th forms toolbar. Tools>Advanced Editing>Forms>Show Forms Toolbar. Then you have a number of options to choose what type of form option will be used. The last option of text field is what you want. Just make sure you change the properties to show that it is a text field that can have information inputted (eg, hairline border around the field)

As to the other question about links to an email address, this should load as quickly as the system resources allow for the machine that is opening the link.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the help! I now can create form fields!

However, when I enter text in the form field I created, it's all gigantic and I can't figure out how to change the font or type size... :(

I thought that would have been in the properties of the form box itself somewhere. Then you can choose the type of font and the size.

Form field font properties are under the Appearance tab. Right click on the form field, and select Properties (IIRC, I don't have Acrobat 6 here right now).
