I'm not in here A i know what is happening in the world, I know the key NPCs motivations, abilities, personalities, and desires. I know what happens if the PCs do nothing. Then I let them loose in the world, and attract as the game goes along B I don't metagame. I don't change what is just because the players are having a hard time or will circumvent a big portion of the game. If they one shot the bbeg in their first meeting, then I go to what is the fallout from this? The bbeg doesn't know what the OCS are doing or planning just because I know. Unless there is a reason for them to be suddenly interested in the PCs, they don't generally sit in every newcomer to the area. Start messing with ur operations and don't cover your tracks then you can expect for them to start asking questions and maybe sending hitters. But they don't have ubiquitous spies with data profiles on the PCs just because. C I'm a tinkerer. I've played a lot of systems, but I have 3 I really like one of which I fell in love with. The other two are cyberpunk and white wolf. Cp is so elegant and simple and does what it does well, and I love the background life path generation (snatch ). Other than the impressive lore, I like the powers and abilities progressions. But my go to is palladium. It hooked my with it's xp rewards and it's active defense system, it's skill system that says if you take body building oh look you get stronger, as well as it's decent stat block. I love the bones of it and the breadth of the settings. I love that I can pick up a core book for about 25 dollars and need nothing else to play. There isn't another system for me that is as malleable and user friendly. Every other game I've played has their faults and things so intrinsic that I didn't care to spend the time and effort to make it run the way is like. But they usually do have a mechanic or two or element I do like. -DND Pathfinder:hate the feat system, like individual fears as skill or ability additives. I like that a power like protean goes from gleam of the red eyes to body of the sun -msh stat range. Cosmic beings should have attributes beyond mortal comprehension. But you can always start practicing this so that you can in the future There's more but you get the idea. Other game mechanics either lend or inspire things I think make my game better. I get inspired, adopt, and modify game elements all the time. Right now I'm trying to smooth out the edges of modern weapon joules to damage equations.
