Persistent Spell question

First Post
The feat Persistent Spell from Tome and Blood says that the modified spell must have a range of Personal or a fixed range (such as the 60 feet for Detect Magic, as opposed to ranges that vary by caster level).

Would a spell with a range of "Touch" be considered a fixed range? Technically there's no variance in it (although you could argue that a Ogre Magi has a longer "touch" reach than a human).

Nope. According to the FAQ:

"Range touch is not “fixed” for purposes of the Persistent
Spell feat. The spell must affect the caster’s person (personal
range) or have some effect that radiates from the caster’s
person (a fixed range, expressed in feet)."

Three words:

Persistent.

True.

Strike.

:D

It has a Personal range! bwa ha ha!

Okay, it's only good on the SINGLE next attack roll you make ... but you can make sure your first attack roll of the day is GOING to work (natural 1's aside).

For sorc/wiz, I like Persistant Improved Invis, once high enough level.

For cleric... uh... yeah. I like everything :) Persistant Divine Power and persistant Divine Favor are good starting points.

Is that really worth a 5th level slot?

Not if you're a wizard, yes if you're a sorcerer. If you've a 5th-level slot at the end of the day, why not? :)

Ah, okay, I must've missed that in the FAQ.

As far as favorite Persistent spells go, I've not really tried it (I'm thinking of a backup character and was contemplating going the metamagic route). Though I'm curious if an epic-level caster with 13th-level slots could do persistent Time Stop.

"Well, seems I have 24 hours in which to act before time resumes. First, a quick nap..."

Of course, since the spell technically is instantaneous (it's only apparent time to the sped-up caster), this probably doesn't really work (especially since I don't actually own the Epic Handbook yet, so I can't read that to find out). But then again, when you're dealing with that level of power, I think you can interpret things more broadly.
