Dark Mistress

First Post
This product is 31 pages long.

Cover, Introduction etc (3 pages)
Reprint of Dog and Riding Dog from pathfinder Bestiary (1 page)

breeds of Dogs (20 pages)
It has a list of 40 breeds of dogs in the book. Mostly mundane, many real life dogs or ones like halfling rattier hound. With a few magical/supernatural dogs. (fiendish, 3 undead versions etc)

All the dogs are fully stated out, with on avg 3 paragraphs about the dog. Then any special abilities or attacks the dog has. (most have one, some have none and a rare few more than one) Finally each dog has a carrying capacity info on how much they can carry at what load and how much they can drag.

About every 4 pages at the bottom is some art of a line of dogs with their breed written next to each image. The art work is pretty decent black line art.

Gear for Dogs (3 pages)
This has a short list of dog equipment and magic items. From collars, dog sleds, saddles, backpacks to a few magical collars and harnesses.

Appendix 1 (1 page)
a table for costs for each of the dogs listed earlier.

Appendix 2 (2 pages)
Information for using the new dogs as animal companions or familiars.

OGL (1 page)

Closing thoughts and comments. Well the book is exactly what it claims to be, a book of a wide range of dog breads. Both real and magical. If you would like to have some variety when it comes to dogs in your game then this is the product for you.

I do have a few nitpicks.
Not all of the dogs are in the art part closest to them. The last one is all the supernatural/magical dogs. That makes sense but they are listed in with the rest. (example the Fiendish dog is near the middle of the breeds section the image shows up at the end.) I would have liked it if they had broken them up into mundane and mystical sections honestly. It is not a big deal but I would have preferred that layout.

My other critic, the mystical/magical dogs. Didn't feel mystical enough for me. Typically they only have one supernatural ability, I would have liked to have seen them have a few such powers. I know this would have likely made them unfit for familiars and animal companions then but i would have still preferred that.

I also would have liked to have seen a few more magical/fantasy dogs.

So if you are looking just for a variety of mundane dogs this is a 5 star product. If you are looking for some magical dogs it falls a little short. Taken as a whole i give the product a solid 4 star.
