The spell looks like and is named after an attack taken right out of the Final Fantasy games. It appears in the Art Gallery for the book on the WotC page, but not in the PHB2.

Anyone got information on this? Pulled due to space? Pulled due to balance? Pulled due to being too videogamey? Pulled on account of copyreich?

It's not uncommon for art to appear in the art gallery that was pulled. The 3E Monster Manual had quite a few pieces previewed that weren't included (Lolth, for example). I know Sharn had at least one class that was pulled and didn't appear until Magic of Eberron.

Gee, I saw the thread title and my immediate answer was "final fantasy VII".

guess I was closer to the joke than I thought...

That was my first thought too. They shoulda just had a picture of Cloud performing that move. ;)

Tome of Battle, perhaps? I would not at all be surprised if there was a spell or ability like "one strike, nine cuts" in that book.

Demiurge out.
