Philadelphia-area FLGS?

Anyone know of a decent (read: likely to have Arcana Unearthed in stock) gaming shop in the greater Philadelphia area? It'd be really cool if you had the place's phone number and/or street address handy, too.

I'm in Center City, and I don't know of any actual gaming shops, but the comic book stores usually have a decent selection of gaming materials.

Try Atomic City Comics on South St between 6th and 7th.
Or Fat Jacks on Sansom between 20st and 21st.

The big bookstores might also have AU: the Borders on Broad 1 block from City Hall, or the B&N on Walnut in Rittenhouse Square.

Also, if you're near the Mainline, try Showcase Comics on Lancaster Ave {Rt. 30} in Ardmore.

Hope this helps...

i think this is my first post (whoo-hoo for me! hold the applause, please...)... anyway, i cast a second vote for the gamers realm... added bonus (for me at least)- it's only 5-10 minutes from my house... :)

There's also the Compleat Strategist in King of Prussia, and Allied Hobbies in Exton, depending on where we're talking.

In the city, the best place I know of is Fat Jack's Comicrypt on Sansom St. around 22nd. They're a major comic distributor, and have a pretty good selection of new game books. I don't know if they have UA in stock or not, though. Ironically, the only shop I can't really recommend is the WotC store in Exton, as they've gotten out of the RPG market, so to speak.

Wizardru didn't say it but I will. In the old days, the Compleat Strategist used to be the hot spot but in recent years it's gone downhill - the folks there don't seem to know that things are coming out let alone know if it's going to be in stock. It used to be my first and last stop, but now I won't go unless I have to.

A fine store in the Philadelphia suburbs:

Abington Game & Hobby Center

Zad: On The Compleat Stratagist in King of Prussia, I used to feel the same way. It was definitely the store of last resort. However, in the past several months they have had a change in management and it seems much better. The guy at the counter actually acknowledged my existence and seemed pretty friendly. I didn't even have to be asked to be rung up. Definitely a step up :).

Hope this helps,

You've been luckier than I have been, then. I was there just two weeks ago with my wife and kids, and had to flag someone down to get their attention when I was trying to buy some books and dice for the kids. The time before that, no one even acknowledged us. The two times prior to that, I tried to custom order in "Heroes of High Favor: Dwarves"...and both times they screwed the order up, and both times failed to call me. I ended up ordering it direct from the publisher. They have been friendly when I've visited, though.

The Strat has a great selection of board and war games, and a pretty reasonable RPG stock...but their service is very shaky and inventory is unpredictable. Zad summed it up...they used to be the first place I go, and now they're not. They're purely an impulse buy store for me, now. Talon Comics is most likely going to be my supplier of choice, at this point.
