Sanctuary: a sizable mining town nestled in the King's Vale of the Crownrock mountains. It is sheltered from the business of the lowlands by a cold and difficult fortnight's travel from the next nearest town, Andrel's Vale. This barrier is welcomed by most residents here; the people of Sanctuary often choose to live here because of the fact. It gives them a feeling of security. That feeling is about to shatter. The King's Vale, so named because it marks the center of the crown-like ridges of the Crownrock mountains, is home to many villages and farms. These exist in tenuous peace thanks to the protection of the White Rangers, sturdy huntsmen sponsored by the lord of Sanctuary, who long ago cleared the vale of giants, and continue to protect the locals from outlaws, white wolves, and trolls. Something strange has appeared in Sanctuary: a half-Dowarthe (Dowarthe are called Dwarves by the common folk). He's three feet tall, and his black beard and mustache fan out in a semicircle. This one calls himself Bengli L'toidnor, but beyond that, he knows only one thing: they're coming. This is about all he can manage before he resumes his catatonic stare. Some townsfolk found him lying beside a mound of dirt, as if he had sprung up straight through the ground in the middle of town. Now, Lord Harfellow wants answers: how did a Dowarthe survive the trip into the King's Vale by himself? Have the Rangers seen anything "coming?" Why does he, and all of Sanctuary, feel uncomfortable with this situation? --- This adventure will be run in Modos RPG, downloadable in this thread, and we'll play once a week on the day that works best for the group (Monday-Thursday). I'll be aiming for George and Dragon or a Starbucks unless someone has a nice home nearby. The current version of Modos RPG is mapless, and characters are very simple, so all you'll need to play is a piece of paper, pencil, and standard RPG dice. Also, I like to incorporate player ideas into the game, so the full adventure/campaign plan won't form until two or more players have shared their interests. Happy gaming! Michael
