Message: <blockquote data-quote="Mog Elffoe" data-source="post: 1235518" data-attributes="member: 793">You know, I had a buddy who was FURIOUS that Rogue diddn't have super strength, flight, or invulnerability in the first X-Men movie.  I explained to him that those weren't Rogue's true mutant powers, and that to add them for the movie, IMO and most likely the filmmakers don't add to the character.  Rogue's whole deal is that her mutant powers are a curse--she can't have human contact anymore unless she WANTS to absorb someone's memories and abilities.  Having three incredibly advantageous powers on top of that dilutes the essence of her character, which is what they really needed to get across in the movie, and in X-Men Evolution.Plus, how do you explain them--they were powers that she absorbed permanently from Ms. Marvel due to her weird Kree/Human hybrid physiology.  Just tacking them on to the character doesn't feel right, but do you even TRY to explain a character like Ms. Marvel in a movie?  Now if either the movie or Evolution rogues ever fight a mutant with Superman-like powers and she holds on to them too long and gains those powers permanently that way, I think that'd work.This friend of mine also wants to see them do the Phoenix Saga in the movies EXACTLY the way they appeared in the comics--the alien Shi'Ar kidnapping the team and the whole fight against the Imperial Guard on the Blue Area of the Moon and all.  How can you expect people to digest all that in one movie?  Ah, well...I think you'll dig X2: X-Men United (despite the title).  It comes out on DVD this coming Tuesday.  Take a look at it.</blockquote>
