Pimp my 6th level Warmage

I'm considering a warmage for a new PC I'll be using this weekend. The DM says I'll be starting at 6th, standard treasure, standard point-buy (28, iirc). Pretty much any race is fair game. It's a pretty combat-heavy game, and I'm the only dedicated arcane caster in the party. Otherwise, it's a salamander rogue/ftr, wererat monk, kobold cleric, kobold paladin, and another fighter type, iirc.

So, ideas? Go nuts! (And thanks in advance.)

EDIT: For clarity's sake, I am merely asking for recommended options/combos for warmages. I am not asking that anyone stat out a complete PC for me.

There's not really much to do with warmages, especially below 10th level. Not much needed in the way of customization or tweaking - just get a high Cha and obliterate things.

I suspect you'd get more replies if you posted your initial attempt at statting things out.

they have awful BAB bonus so dont rely on touch/ranged touched attacks.

with 8 cha you cant cast any spells!!

its also a good job u r starting at 6th cos the two spell focus feats are much use until then

i also looking at being a warmage in a LG campaign, so im interested in others thoughts. The more i look the less impressed i am

Well, you'll probably want to look at the PHB2 or Spell Compendium for a 1st level invocation spell other than TFD. (I think Bigby's Tripping Hand is the most useful one in combat.)

If there are so many front line fighters, you might be able to get away without improving your AC, and so skip Armored Mage. Likewise, look at the PHB2 variant learning for utility spells, since your party has no other arcane casters.

I've seen Warmages who focus on ranged touch attacks do pretty well. With a decent Dex, Point Blank Shot, and Weapon Focus (Rays), their BAB is usually good enough for Touch AC. When you're up against something with a high touch AC, you have other (non-ray) spells you can try.

id stick an 8 in wisdom. You aint gonna have good saves or spells to buff them so dont worry about it, and you will have more skill points than you know waht to spend on anyway

with 8 str you can just about plod about in chainshirt

if u grey elf they get +2 INT and +2 Dex so that helps

You dont need a massive Cha for a while, just dont use spells that req anything but Evocation (which u have 2 spell focsuses in) so saves are adversely affected

Weapon Focus (Rays)
Just like for Warlocks, Precise shot is much more useful than WF(rays). Especially with so many fighters in the group.

You know, given the current group makeup a beguiler might be more fun to play. Kind of the same class mechanics, but all the direct damage spells are swapped out for "tricky" ones. If the direct damage is what attracted you to the class, just ignore this. ^_^
