The house slavers first used him to scout tunnels ahead of groups, which was more for fodder and amusement rather than any actual worth. But as time went and word of his survial spread, other drow of the house took notice of gurlak and stated to send him on other missions of a more dangerous nature; ones that drow would not stoop so low to perform but still needed to be done. </p><p> Gurlak soon worked his way up to personal slave cohort of second male of the house, even going along on some personal drow business. As time went by the first boy of the hosue became worried about the possible advance of gurlaks master and of gurlak's potential to aid the second boy. Gurlak realized this and took flight intot he underdark where he learned to survive for years on lichen, moss, wandering rothe, and other vermin. it is here where he also learned to hone his skills of tracking, and, more importantly in the underdark,killing.</p><p> Over the years gurlak came across a deep imaskari wizrd that offered gurlak "jobs" in exchange for goods. seeing the potential for what it was worth, gurlak performed these tasks of hunting down wizards, minor devils, and other potential threats. on the return of one such job that involved interplanar travel, gurlak was moved a bit off course, where he finds himself currently employed by the denizens of the planes.</p></blockquote><p></p>
