I think that's absolutely what is happening... partially... but it's also a matter of degree. For example, if you look at Eberron which, according to a recent Oct 2, 2023 post by Teos Abadía (D&D 5E’s Top-Selling Settings, Sourcebooks, and Accessories), sold 142,000 - meaning it did really well (just 5k sales below best-selling Curse of Strahd) - it had within its 320 pages an included adventure called "Forgotten Relics" that was just 15 pages long. So one valuable point of comparison is looking out for future sales numbers for Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse to at least begin triangulating the question: Does the LENGTH of the adventure compared to the total product page count increase sales? Or does a shorter sample adventure (like Eberron which was <5% total page count) sell just as well or better as a long-form 96 page adventure (like Planescape which was ~37% total page count)? Obviously there are other factors, and more valid points of comparison helps, but that would be a key piece of data I'd want to look at before making any conclusions. EDIT: For example, the current estimates when comparing Eberron (short adventure) to Spelljammer (long adventure) suggests - but does not prove - that shorter adventures in a setting product lead to BETTER sales. Obviously, things went wrong with Spelljammer to some extent, so that's a flawed data point. Planescape will be a better data point as reviews of Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse are either middling or positive from what I'm reading.
