Seamusxanthuszenus is a SLAYER OF FIENDS, MERCHANT MOST EXCELLENT, and PURVEYOR OF DEATH! A dust mephit created by the cambion Yllgarra to insult the intended recipient, Nurx, the rutterkin proprietor of a Sigilian shop called "Pets & Meat," he first showed up in the aforementioned shop only to find Nurx dead. No murderer was present, so SXZ took credit for himself and just hung out there. This is how he became "Slayer of Fiends." A tough cutter came in to sell Nurx some newly caught prey, so the mephit paid her out of the till. This is how he became "Merchant most excellent." As outsiders, dust mephits don't need to eat, and it didn't occur to him to feed the animals in cages. Most died. No problem: Some barmy wizard came in to buy material components and was charmed to find that he wouldn't need to kill his purchase himself. He paid and went on his way. This is how our hero became "Purveyor of death." Seamusxanthuszenus renamed what was now his shop and has been in business in Sigil's Market Ward ever since. This is the short version of the biography that appears in the 2nd Edition Planescape accesory Uncaged: Faces of Sigil by Ray Vallese. The NPCs in this book are terrific, but the real charm is the complex organic network by which they interact with one another. Dust This gift represents a subtle threat, with the connotation that shows that the sender has recognized some plot of the recipient against him. -excerpt from "The Mephit Code."
