Planewalking Bounty Hunter?

What type of build makes for a good planewalking Bounty Hunter? Are there any official PrC/class combinations that could quickly be used for this? Or any ideas on what skills and abilities a Planar Bounty Hunter might need?

Have you checked out the horizon walker PrC in the DMG? That might make an excellent class; it's based on ranger, which is always handy for a bounty hunter.

The Horizon Walker would be pretty useful. I can't figure out how it could be implemented though without losing out on potential bounty hunter qualities. It would be nice to have the terrain abilities but it doesn't really help any as far as locating and capturing someone.

Is there even an official Bounty Hunter PrC? I haven't seen one in the books I've checked.

It's not really a bounty hunter per se, but check out the Justicar (originally appeared in Dragon Magazine) in Complete Warrior. Built around bringing criminals back alive to face justice, several abilities to help in tracking and then taking down your prey without killing them.

Bloodhound looks like a cool Bounty Hunter Class, and Horizon Walker is a GREAT planewalker. Perhaps it's time to create your own prestige class that is a fusion of the two.

If you move into the sphere of d20...Keith Baker (in his pre-Eberron days) created a bounty hunter CORE class that I really like (in Atlas Games, Crime and Punishment)...you also might want to consider the 3.0 Gatecrasher class from the Manual of the Planes.

Also, I think there is a variant planar ranger in Unearthed Arcana, maybe using that variant along with the Bloodhound PrC will get what you are looking for...
