Looking under the "Find A Game" tab, or an online site like Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds may be a better option.

Good luck and happy gaming

Roll20 didn't work out so well for me. Everyone wanted me to DM... (even when I posted as a player who wanted to play).

The "Find a Game" tab, isn't that for local games at people's houses?

Here on EN World, we have online Play-by-Post ("PbP") games.

There are two sorts: "Living" worlds, and Assorted Campaigns. Of those, the "Living" worlds are Edition-specific: the 3E world is not the 4E world.

To look for a game to play in that is not a "Living" world, check out the "Talking the Talk" forum (<- link included). There will sometimes be one or more threads in that forum that mention that they are recruiting new players; but other times, nobody is recruiting new players. (It depends partly on how many DMs want to run campaigns, and partly on how many players will stick with a given campaign when the going gets slow.)

The counterpart of the "Talking the Talk" forum is the "Playing the Game" forum (<- link included), wherein the various campaigns discussed in the "Talking the Talk" forum are actually played. (If you get accepted into a game in the "Talking the Talk" forum, the DM of that game will probably give you a link to the In-Character (IC) game thread in the "Playing the Game" forum.)

Sorry to hear, but I'd keep trying it. From what I've seen on Roll20, there are many more players, especially newer ones, who are looking for games on there than DMs. And as it is online, sometimes groups/campaigns/no-shows can cause a game to end abruptly.

But, it is a great site, and it's where I first learned to play before I started roping some of my own friends into it. Keep checking and trying, it may take a while but eventually you'll find a good group. Not that you can't Play-by-Post here as well.

I'm running a text-only one-shot game this weekend, a playtest of a 3rd-level adventure I plan to bring to DM's Guild. I normally do voice games, but I want a transcript for review so I can use the information to inform our editing.

While it's not a long term campaign, I am looking for 2 more players to round out the group. If you're interested, the details can be found here: Message in a Bottle.

Sounds interesting. I don't mind a one-shot. I used to play on Open RPG back in the day, and preferred text. Sure it was slower, but it was easier to refer to things. What types of characters do you need?
