None of the subclasses you could choose from in 2014 were the death domain, just as none of the sources of power you can choose from in 2024 are gods. In both cases, the PHB does provide everything a player needs to play the class. It’s on you that you refuse to play the class with any of the options that are provided in the PHB.</blockquote>
