Player's Screen

I had an idea, and I'm sure this has already been done before, but I'd like to get some input.

I use my own custom DM screen that I created myself. I just realized that it might be useful to players if instead of having a picture on the back of the screen, I put information that would be helpful to players since they stare at it all day.

The text would of course need to be bigger so everyone can see it without getting up. But what kind of information would players like to see while looking at the screen while gaming?

Maybe I can make an insert so when casters buff the group, they can insert a list of the buff info in the insert of the screen.

What kind of rules would be useful to you? Do people care to see pictures? I could have an insert dedicated for a picture relating to the current adventure. Or do you just want to see a list of pizza delivery phone numbers? :p

Have any other ideas?

I think creating your first DM screen is tantamount to a jedi making their first lightsaber.

Most of what I'd put on the other side would be what the players could not read from the PHB. House rule reminders relevant during a session, custom item lists, etc.

I agree, my first one was in high school, and oddly enough it was for a Fifth Cycle campaign.

I loved that little game. :)

Nah, that's using a blaster instead of a lightsaber.

That makes no sense. It may be less cool, but it's much more effective. Plasma cannon instead of blaster, maybe?

IME, players need regional maps, lists of things their characters would know (gods, countries, rulers, names of important historical figures, etc.) and -- to keep them from looking in the PHB every 10 minutes -- the experience/advancement chart.

Yeah those are the kind of things I was thinking about.

It just dawned on me too, since I run a Planescape game, having a picture of the planar cosmology might be really helpful.
