He concludes: "This book gives a pretty simple depiction of how to maximize the use of your PC and build it to be effective in the first place. I don’t think the target audience includes me, a DM that has been playing and DMing for more than 20 years, so I may be taking a harsher view of the book than a newer player. This tome is written in simplistic terms for a new player. The tactics are not laid out in a great deal of depth and most of the advice amounts to things that a long-time RPGer would consider basic. To a newer player these things may not be common sense, so I’m not sure that this is a bad thing, actually."</p><p></p><p><a href="http://www.dragonavenue.com/forums/viewthread/1881/" target="_blank">Dragon Avenue</a> says "This is a fantastic addition to the supplements in D&D. The “For Dummies” brand came out with their “Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition For Dummies” book, but Wizards laid it all out on the table with this, taking every single little detail into consideration when it comes to creating life on paper that becomes a Player Character in D&D. Some people like to just roll dice, level up, and collect items where some people like to create a believable scene for D&D. This book definitely covers all of that."</p><p></p><p><a href="http://www.pornokitsch.com/2010/05/new-releases-players-strategy-guide.html" target="_blank">Pornokitsch</a> says "In The Forest Of Mathematical Perfection, it's easy to lose sight of The Castle Of Awesome Fun. And, for all that this new book is full of tips and tricks to build the best character, it keeps signposting the road back to that Castle."</p></blockquote><p></p>
