Playing Monsters as Characters: Level Equivalents

I had heard that a new listing of monsters as characters was published by WOTC some time ago. It included their EL ( equivalent level) ratings. What product was this? is there a way of gettign the mist or a new revision of it for free without having to buy an entire new book?

My DM wants to do an evil campaign that utilizes monsters with an EL +2 or lower but is put off by the poor listing in the DMG.
Any help guys and gals?

It's in the DMG.

There was some in an issue of DRAGON, but those were sent in by an article writer, and Not by WotC.

WotC is coming out with a book (Savage Species) that will have them in it.

There are so few +1 ECLs in that Dragon article that I don't mind listing them here.
