Playing Witchfire in the SL

warpmind

First Post
Well, I've just finished reading "The Longest Night" and I've found it an excellent adventure. But it seems that I'll have to wait a long time to see the IK campaign setting book.
So I've decided to play this adventure in my favourite setting up to date (the Scarred Lands). I've found it easy to adapt this first adventure, but I've read that this is far more difficult with the second adventure.
I don't want to buy the second part now, so if anyone has read it , can you tell me exactly what are the difficulties on adaptation in this second module? Any suggestions on solving these problems?

Well a big part of the second module is adventuring through an ancient mechanical temple devoted to some dead god or something like that. I read it in a while ago so I can't fully recall. There is a trip down a swamp then you end up in the temple. So if you can adapt that to gods/aliens/demons/whatevers in your setting then you'll be good to go.

There is also more info on the IK settings such as a short write up on the gods and saints and so forth (or was that in part 3...) so you may find you actually do have enough to play in the setting.

the mechanical issue is fine, it's all easily portable. Just stick the big machine in the swamp that is in the middle of the realm and you will be fine. I plan on converting in the 3rd module the humanoid creatures into slithern (ratmen) for a much more enjoyable and more well suited to SL setting.

I think you guys are on the right track, there's certainly a confluence of mood between IK and SL. But you might want to wait a little bit before you convert completely. The Monsternomicon, due this summer, sheds a bit more light on the setting and between that, the three modules and the Web stuff you can start to flesh out the Iron Kingdoms.
The Monster Book is a truly wonderful thing, it's gorgeously illustrated and full of very useful stuff. It's not the sourcebook, but it helps.
Patience will be rewarded, really. There's lots of great stuff coming down the pipe from Matt and the rest of the Privateer gang. It may be a little frustrating to wait, but wouldn;t you rather have a great, quality setting than some stapled-together crap?
Anyway, don't forget to check in with Privateer from time to time, since this stuff will be well worth when it arrives,
Cheers,

Well, that's one of the most interesting descriptions I've ever heard for the Scarred Lands. ;)

If it's any consolation, we use only stainless-steel staples.

Put foot in mouth, swallow. Apologize profusely...
Er, I was actually very much not thinking about SL as one of them stapled-together wonders, but the 8" x 4" d20-for-dummies modules that replicated like bunnies on viagra when the system was first announced.
Actually, SL is one of my very fave settings of all time and I argued (but lost) that my group play our secondary campaign in SL.
So consider that an abject retraction. Sorry Druid, I will heretofore consider my remarks more closely before typing them in.
Cheers,
dread

*chuckles*

I'm just messing with ya, Dread - I pretty much figured you weren't referring to the Scarred Lands. ;) Just giving you a hard time.

Yeah, but I know how sensitive creative types can be when ya slag their life's work. Just wanted to be clear. Having said that, IK ROCKS!!! :D
cheers,
Dread

Personally I DO Like Iron Kingdoms. Mainly because it's DIFFERENT. Same reason I like SL. I'm just glad you guys enjoy reading SL stuff too. :)

So the only problems are mechanical critters and gods? Well, I feared it was something harder than this. Thank you all.

P.D: Druid, please, write some modules for the SL. We're hungry!
