Since I have a bunch of stuff showing the thought process before playtest and the playtest description followed by the after play discussion and thoughts, I think it would be easier to just point to the pages on my blog where they are.
The Dice Are A Lie
However, here is the crux of where I stand now on 5e.
After the play and discusion, I really do feel a lot more upbeat about where the designers are trying to go. It looks to me as if they really might be able to pull off the modular aspect and have the game be playable and fun in all sorts of variations and style.
They have a long way to go, but one player and fellow DM commented that he could actually enjoy it as written in the current playtest documents without too much worry about things working or about it failing to be fun.
The players and I are anxious to try other options and everyone really wants to see the character creation rules. They seemed almost ready to just run with it right now.
