I'm planning on giving out a few unique items in a game I'm running. Please take a look and let me know if the wording can be tightened up and if anything might be inherently overpowered for a mid-level game. I don't have any crafting characters playing so I haven't given thought to prereqs and caster levels though I'm open to suggestions. The prices are very rough estimates based on similar items (and since they're a quest reward, I'm not particularly concerned about getting the price right--it's more a way to guage their relative power and to enable me to compare the PCs' equipment to D&D standard). So, without further ado, the items: The Scabbard of the champion This heavy leather-covered wooden scabbard hangs from an ornate red-dyed leather baldric carved with knotwork patterns and leafed in gold. It magically resizes to fit any sword. Three times per day, when its wearer draws a sword from the sheathe and attacks with it in the same round, it adds extra damage dice to the first blow based on the way the weapon is wielded. One handed: 2d6 damage. Two-handed: 3d6 damage. My estimated price: 3,000gp The cloak of the Griffon The collar of this heavy woolen cloak is surrounded by a short mantle of golden griffon feathers that fall to the height of the shoulders. An ornate brooch with a rampant griffon holds it in place at the neck. The cloak grants a +2 resistance bonus to all saving throws and grants its wearer the effects of a feather fall spell. Estimated Price: 10,000gp The Protector This darkwood buckler is covered in black leather held in place by numerous burnished brass studs. On the inside, are carved runes of protection and healing. This +1 buckler grants an additional 5 points of AC against any attempt to confirm a critical hit. Estimated Price: 4,200gp Bridgitte Armbands of the dragonslayer. Carved of bright steel and fortified with bands of adamant, these vambraces cover the entire forearm and are covered with long furrows and scratches. The armbands of the dragonslayer have two effects: First, their wearer finds that she is able to use a weapon of any size within a grapple. Second, for one round per day per three character levels or part thereof (2 rounds at level 6, three rounds at level 7, four rounds at level 8, etc), they may be activated as an immediate action to grant their wearer the benefits of a freedom of movement spell. Estimated Price: 8,000gp Helm of glory At first, this helm seems to be a simple, mottled steel open-face helm. Upon closer examination, however, the steel is carved with prayers to Oronthon in the tongues of angels. This helm grants a +2 enhancement bonus to charisma and grants use of the Sacred Vengeance feat when worn—spend a turn attempt as a free action to add 2d6 damage to any blow you strike against undead until the beginning of your next turn. Estimated Price: 12,000gp
