Now I do agree and understand what you have said here. And, BRAVO, for such a well phrased forum reply. Now to what I have to say. I would like to say that, for one, there would definitly have to be exceptions to what skills characters of certain classes wouls have access to. Since we have been using a fighter for so many examples, I will continue with one. I would not allow a fighter to choose certain skills that would draw him closer to the class of wizard, sorcerer, druid, ranger, rogue, bard, or even a paladin. There would definitly have to be limits set as to what skills would be available. I was not trying to imply that all skills would be accessable to that fighter just because I would like to be able to choose class skills at character creation. If that is the way that it sounded then I appologize. That was not my intent. More or less this would have to be a DM call upon character creation. Since, in my view, a DM should be present at every character creation he should have full knowledge of what type of character the player is drawing up. At that point they could work on a back story, and assign appropriate class skills to the character in question. The DM would have to make the limitations on what skills could and could not be switched. I am currently attempting to write this system up to implement into a few of my games so that I could play test the idea. Once I come to a descision as to whether they work, or not, I will be posting the results in the House Rules forum, ASAP. Thank you for your time, and have a happy New Year.
