Please give your thoughts and possible aid to these D&D-esque symphonies by my friend

Hello all,

At another set of forums that I peruse, a friend of mine (Kieran Kirchner) has created a thread asking for assistance with poems that he will base his "fifth movement" (I'm not up on musical terminology, lol) off of.

I honestly feel that he has the talent to create great music and the drive to see it through.

You can read the original thread here.

You can download his .mp3s in .zip format here: http://www.angelfire.com/wizard/dnb/

At the very least, you're treated with free .mp3s that can possibly enhance your games if you so desire. If you could, leave feedback for Kieran either in this post, or the link I offered above.

Thanks to all that respond.

:)

Problems w/ Angelfire

Sadly, Angelfire.com doesn't allow remote linking to files directly so those mp3's are unaccessable via those links. Otherwise, I would have gladly given my opinion.

http://www.angelfire.com/wizard/dnb/ has the files. Also, why did you zip them up? Decompression yielded files of the same size. You can compress something that's already been compressed, and mp3 has built-in compression.

As to the tunes themselves, they were interesting. I couldn't take them too seriously because it was cheesy midi, but I bet with a real orchestra you'd end up with something pretty compelling. Truthfully it felt more like a flight of dragons going off to war than just a dragon flying around. :]

The mp3 seem ok. I wouldnt say great stuff... but nothing exceptional is my feeling. Thou I must say I´m fussy about music for films or fantasy.

He did seem to try and keep the classical music in a lot...

I didn't realize that, I'll be sure to edit my post above with just a link to his page.

I didn't, it's his site and weird way of thinking. :p

I'm with you... it's more like thinking "with the right people and equipment, this guy could be damn good". But still, considering everything, I think he did a good job.
