(Enough that I'm still working out the economic implications.) On the other hand, you can never have too much money. Symbol is good defensively, but if I have 4000 gold that I'm trying to convert to power, I'd rather turn it into 24 elemental-months of Earth Elemental/Invisible Stalker service than 4 Symbols scrawled in a dragon lair somewhere that the dragon might not even stumble over before I kill it. However. If I don't think I can kill it, then I will sneak in and lay a bunch of Symbols of Insanity everywhere (6000 gold) before making myself a Simulacrum (1500 gold) to Bestow Curse on the creature and lead it into my nest of Symbols, at which point my five Air Elementals (5000 gold) will beat it to death. For an investment of 12,500 gold I expect to make 14,000 gold and 1750 platinum, for a tidy profit net of 19K gold plus any magical items.
