Stealing from people isn't harmfull? I take it you mean steal from the rich, since for them it'd be less of an impact. As to alignment, Neutral Good would be my first pick based on the fact that you are taking the law into your own hands, yet you seem to be doing these things for 'the right reasons'. As for class, I'd definately say you just described a "Good Thief", or Rogue in 3e terms. I'm not sure where you got the xxx/cleric idea from as you never once acutally mentioned spell-casting of any sort. Go with Rogue, that back-stabbing is perfect for those ambushes and sneak attacks you say you're going to do (mabye that's where they got the name ;)). You don't sound much like you're going for the 'stand and trade blows' type of character anyhow, so strike quickly and from ambush with those poisoned blades of yours. If you're after Track and (more likely) Dual Wield for 'free' then be a Human and take one level of Ranger, putting the rest into Rogue and Sorcerer. "Sorcerer?" I hear you ask? Well you didn't mention spell-slinging in your description, yet you mention a Ranger/Cleric character as a possible choice. I wouldn't suggest you take Cleric though. About the only God you'd be able to stay with (they know everything about you remember) would be a God of Murder, and those aren't usually very nice. Sorcerer would let you use that high CHA score you have, the one you wanted for those CHA-based skills like Sense Motive and Intimidate, for your questioning of the 'scum' you will be facing constantly. Besides, you're going to only 'dabble' in magic right? You won't feel the pinch of a Sor's limited spell selection too badly either. If you need items with spells you yourself don't have just go buy/steal/capture something from another Wizard/Sorcerer, you have 'access' to any Arcane Trigger device regardless of your Sorcerer levels. If you just can't stand the restrictions in spell variety that a Sorcerer labors under then go with Wizard, that high INT you'll have will come in handy for truely impressive skill point totals, allowing you to keep a wide selection of skills capped at each level. Luggin around those spell books could be a pain, but the potential of a near-infinate spell selection is a big plus (at least to me). If you go with either caster type I'd suggest you think seriously about taking the feat: Eschew Components. No point in advertising you're a wizard/sorcerer till it's too late.
