Augment Summoning [General]
REQ: Spellcaster level 2nd+
Benefit: Creatures you conjure with any summon spell gain +1 hit point per Hit Die and +1 competence modifier on attack and damage rolls. Tome and Blood, pg 39.

I said average and that's being generous IMO. It is really cool for a concept character around summoning but it really is a small benefit to a specific and crappy line of spells. SM spells only get good for combat(which is what this feat helps at) at really high elvels where the benefits of the feats are fairly minor.

I agree, although for a summoner its not too bad. What I would rather see is a feat that ups the spell duration to min/lvl:)
 

Thematically, this is one of the coolest feats in the game. It's too bad that it doesn't offer that significant of benifits, doesn't have a feat chain to follow it (Improved Augmented Summoning, Superior Augmented Summoning, etc.), and most importantly doesn't adress Monster Summoning X's biggest design flaw - a lack of sufficient duration at low levels to warrant its use.
 

I am itching to build a character with this feat because it is cool, but I agree with Stalker0 and Celebrim that it is an unimpressive feat for power.

What a summoner desperately wants is options to increase spells durations to minutes or even hours. Something like: change spell casting time to 1 hour and increase duration to 1 hour/level at the cost of +1 spell level.

I gave it a '4'.

I believe what you are looking for is planar ally or planar binding.

The idea is great, the execution could use some work. the +1 hp per hit die isnt to bad but the +1 bonus to attacks doesnt scale well. the idea of a feat chain based on it would be wonderful.
 

I like using the Psionic versions (from Mind's Eye) better, but if you include some of these for magic things become a lot nicer. For example, "Extended Construction" (makes duration be 1 minute per level, with Augment Construction and Ecto Manipulation as prerequisites) would work well if you made an arcane version.
