Cooper dragon? I have to assume you're using the non-errattaed version. Anything over juvenile is out of the hit die range. even juveniles are hardly woth it. You get a 23 AC but lose the ability to wear magic items that require a humanoid form, and any items you carry when you cast get merged into you. The AC is hardly better when the 21 you'll get from Troll, but as a troll ou have higher strength and con.
No, we're using the Psionic's Handbook errata version of polymorph.

I didn't say the dragon form was older than juvenile. The juvenile copper dragon is medium-size (perfect for the small-size kobold) & has 14 HD (under the 15 HD limit). The troll is too big for the character, as it is large. And so far all the times he has polymorphed, he didn't have any useful magic items anyway, & was done with casting spells (read: out of useful ones). You are correct about medium-size casters not being able to morph into large-size dragons (whoops!).

And, we did miss the rule about the form having the caster's HD or less. My friend won't be happy to here this (his kobold is only 11th level). Oh well. :D

Arundl,
Each age category of dragons has average stats. IMO, in the case of dragons, each age category is meant to be a separate creature in terms of choices to change into (whether polymorphing or shapechanging or wildhshaping). Although it would make sense in all(?) other cases that average stats would include an average age.

For a Psychic Warrior, and maybe other "unarmed" specialists, the Girralon rules bigtime ... with 4 claw attacks, and a bite, more str as the troll, and more speed.

Imagin a HUGE Girralon (psw using expansion) with 35 str and 4 claw attacks with Claws of the vampire ;)

"Ploymorph" really is a good spell. My Wizard routinely morphs into various ploys to outwit the enemy. Some of my favorites ploys to morph into include:

1. "Hey, look over there!"
2. "Oh my! What is that behind you?"
3. "I may be small, but you're big!"
4. "Hey, I'm evil, too. Let's be friends."
5. "Never go up against a sicilian when death is on the line!"
