Maybe you were shanghaied. It could have been you were captured from another vessel. Perhaps someone sold you into slavery.
Whatever the reason, you were in the hold of The Black Gull, captained by Razorwings, one of the more dreaded pirates on this coast. You know you were bound for the slave blocks, for that is what the guards gleefully told you. Or maybe worse, if you were female and better looking than a plan with a hole in it.
But then something happened. It is night, and only a half turn of the watch ago, there was a sudden commotion on deck, accompanied by the boat
rocking wildly from side to side for a few second, like something had dragged on side down and then released it.
Some shouts on deck, a clash of arms, a spell cast, and a soft but terrible sucking sound coming from many places above your heads. Your guards rush above decks and the hatches slam down behind them. And more commotion and the sucking sound then silence.
It has been silent for a while now, maybe an hour and looking around, you count 30 or so of you poor souls sitting in the near darkness, waiting to see what might befall you. No sounds above decks and the ship drifting and gently rocking. But then one person gets free of the ropes, and he helps another, and another till you are all free. But what will you do?
This is a 3.5 edition D&D PBEM. Level 2. Max hp. Standard 32 point buy and no races with a level adjustment. No starting magic, though you can choose equipment you will find on the boat somewhere. 2 free skills, either profession or crafting, max ranks in both.
