Podcasts the foreshadowing

I have been listening to the older WOTC podcasts and it is interesting to hear
Dave and Mike talking about various D&D topics and picking out the lines of thinking that lead to 4e. Especialy in the ways they talk about magic item design, monster design, dungeons and traps.

I'm talking about podcasts 1 through 13. 14 is the 4e announcement podcast.

I'm currently converting and running EtCRavenloft and see a lot of the same things. Not in every aspect, but in many of them, it seems like the module uses a lot of the concepts that led to 4e designs.

How's that conversion going? I've got the adventure, but haven't run it and I've thought about converting it.

I've also considered trying to convert Rappan Athuk, for similar reasons, but I'm not sure that's a good idea. There have to be a few things in a module that large that depend on some major mechanical assumptions.

its a work in progress, but going pretty well so far. Once I get it complete, I was planning on posting the full thing up here.

Nice work. I'm doing the same, but I bumped up the level. The PCs are L11 and should be around 15 when they face Strahd (I'm using his OG stats, which make him a L20 solo).

Back on thread track, it makes sense that the podcats foreshadow 4e. A lot of books did so as well. It was their way of discussing the changes they were pondering without overtly doing so.
