PoL Regions

First Post
I was doing some prep for my current campaign, and while my party are still working round the Nentir Vale, I've been thinking of areas beyond for them to explore. Which got me to wondering: do any of you guys have any cool places (cities, towns, general places) that you came up with that you like?
I see a lot of people looking for maps of PoL land, and although it's not the point of PoL, what's wrong with people sharing ideas and such?

For example:

One of the places I have in mind is a city/community called Dust.
Depending on who you ask, Dust is a few weeks travel South or East of the Nentir Vale. It's known mostly for sand, heat, spices, sand, slaves, heat, and sand.
The place itself resembles a very large mesa in the middle of a flat desert plain. The mesa itself is hollowed out and inside it live hundreds if not thousands of the nomadic people that inhabit that desert, plus a fair few travelling merchants who make a tidy sum trading with this far off place.
On top of the mesa is a large tower and other few ancient buildings but the elders forbid anyone exploring these.
Dust is also renown for a thriving slavery industry, and pit fights are a common source of entertainment.

I don't know. For me, it's a chance to put in a desert region, some gladiatorial action, and a smidge of Dark Sun into PoL.

I'd love to see if anyone else has any other cool ideas they'd like to share...

I know Dungeon Magazine occasionally puts out support. There was one on the old Capital of Nerath, which was really good, actually. There was also another centered on some dungeon tying into the Abyssal Plague novel line. There were also the adventure locations put out last year such as Hammerfast and Vor Rukoth, both of which dealing with PoLish history.

As for ideas... I know on the Wizard Forums they had a thread called Points of Light (and Dark) detailing brainstorms for various fantastic adventure locals and such. That was a while ago, though. One idea I liked was a village which worshiped a storm god and who sent children up to a mountain to commune with the patron entity. The whole setup was actually a social engineering experiment by a Mind Flayer cabal.

Your own idea for Dust actually sounds like a cool place. Should probably work well.

I think making regions or cities similar to other campaign settings is a good idea. Easy to do and makes the world more colorful/

Also, Bill Slavicsek's recent novel expands the PoL setting.
Which one? The Mark of Nerath? I don't recall that particularly expanding the setting, and the map at the front is much the same as the one from the DMG, but with Andok Sur and Kalton Manor marked on it.

On the other hand, The Seal of Karga Kul by Alex Irvine has a completely different map, showing the Dragondown Coast. I haven't read it yet, so I don't know if the book references existing parts of the PoL world. Based on the map, though, the story is set in a part of world not previously visited.
