[Poly] Poly 161

Severion

First Post
I just got my first subscriber issue of Dungeon/Poly (very sweet). Two problems though, First the poly cover is flipped (the ad is on the outside) and the pages start at number 3. Any one els have these problems and am i missing any thing from pages 1&2 in Poly.

Over all a great magazine, keep up the great work Paizo

The cover isn't a mistake. Apparently, the US Postal Service won't allow magazines to have a cover on both sides, so they don't have a choice.

Regarding the missing pages, I think it's due to the same problem as above. The ad should have been on page 1, most likely, and 2 is probably the table of contents. I'll flip through my issue later to make sure.

This is a really late April fool's joke right? When did they introduce that rule its been duel cover for more than a year. Also how do the postal service know it has duel covers, surely it's shipped to individuals in bag or envelop of some form, larger shipments will also be wrapped up, but are unlikely to be shipped by Postal Service any way.

No joke. The newsstand copies have flipper covers, the subscription copies have an ad for the Poly cover and the cover itself is reproduced inside somewhere. I find it to be really annoying, but the subscription rate is worth it to me.

Sort of. :)

Apparently the Postal Service thinks that having two covers on a magazine will confuse their workers, since the mailing label is supposed to be on the back of the magazine.

As others have said, it's a postal service problem. It won't last much longer, though, because with Dungeon #103 the Poly cover is moving to the inside of the magazine and all of the magazine's pages will be "right-side up." Sort of like Dragon's old Ares section.

As for the "missing pages" issue, in the magazine biz, the cover is almost always "page 1," the inside cover is "page 2," etc. In short, you're not missing anything.

Thanx for the input guys. I never noticed about the page numbers before but the odd cover got me looking a little closer. I checked a newsstand issue and saw that the pages were ok. Too bad about the change in format, i kinda like things turned around and upside down.

It must really be confusing then since most of my magazine subscriptions (sorry none of them Paizo publications) have their labels on the front...

What a moronic "rule" (the two covers thing)...
