Positive energy wanted, STAT!

Our 6-year old just had a screw shoved about an inch into his eye in a freak agility accident. He didn't lose the eye -- the orb wasn't punctured -- but it's too soon to tell how much scratching damage the eye has or if it will cause any permanent vision impairment. My wife is on the way back from the vet now.

Needless to say, we're pretty freaked out, especially after losing both our 13- and 11-year olds this year. It's a freak accident, I know, but I still question the sanity of a training center that has screws sticking far enough out of their equipment to cause injury.

This is a dog, then?

At first, I thought it was a child.

Either way, good vibes sent your way.

There's a difference? :heh:

Much obliged -- he is resting well, with no direct orbital damage, and will be seeing opthamologist tomorrow for a full workup.

I'll be thinking of you and your dog.

One emergency vet I took my cat to a few years ago was in the same building as an animal opthamologist. From the newspaper clippings, it seems like they can really do some amazing things for animals with poor eyesight and/or eye injuries. I really hope you don't have to go through all that, but at least veterinary medicine may help. :heh:

I'm relieved you're not talking about your kids but I send my prayers/thoughts/karma/positive energy your way. I'm the kind of guy who's dogs are his best friends so I know your pain. Hopefully he'll pull through with minimal to no damage to hios eye.

Still, if the worse comes to worst, having a glass eye never bothered that dog on Tales of the Gold Monkey

(That's positive. I'm just glad it wasn't a kid, as I first thought)

Damn, Olgar, it is a tough year for dogs. diaglo and Sue lost Molly a few months ago too.

Thinking of you guys and hoping he has a full recovery.

Got a question for you, now that I think of it. We finally got ourselves a dog, a pointer mix, and she is now about about 6 months old. We followed some of the methods in The Art of Raising a Puppy and did a great job getting her crate trained and thru the initial puppy stage, but now we are in need of some more general training. Just teaching her not to jump on the kids, not to pull on her leash, not to be too wild in the house. Any suggestions, books or other recommendations?
