An interesting concept. Some ideas: The veneer of modern america is for the benefit of the datas. The OS seeks to continue to do what it did before. Its purpose was to create an interactive fun environment. Of course, the AIs idea of fun may be different then what we think of. :) The game started out as a fantasy world. Somewhere in the myriad files is the code for the magic system. It was phased out by the AI as it was trying to recreate the real world in the game. I will assume that the magic system was one of the first things the orginal human programmers worked on. Therefore, its so deep inside the code and touches so many other things that trying to erase magic would mess up everything. However, characters who know how can still access this magic system. Serving the AI are several subordinate awakened programs. They were created by the AI to help run things and given the power of Developer Mode. Calling themselves Wizards they have the ability to create, modify, or delete parts of the game world. They are as close to gods as you can get here. Some adventure ideas: The PCs are investigating a string of disappearances. They are all in the same bad part of town. The police assume the victims are murdered by criminals. Its actually a glitch in the program. At corner in a certain alley its possible for datas to fall through the world. They usually die but one is rescued by a passing Wizard who takes pity on him. The bug will be fixed during the next update but the man has a most unusual story to tell. The characters discover a Game Master Room. These rooms are left over from when the world was a MMORPG. Its main purpose was to serve as a safe spot to teleport to so the GMs didn't appear in the open where the players could see them. I would make it so that the walls are transparent from inside the room so the GMs could observe the zone. Now that the GMs are dead nobody uses them. An important NPC from the old days was removed from the game but never deleted. The PCs somehow cause this NPC to spawn. He doesn't know whats going on or what has happened. He just knows that he has to give players a quest. Collecting goblin necklaces should prove a daunting task for the PCs. :) Thats all for now. I think I'll go log into real life. LOADING. PLEASE WAIT....
