Possible to change my name?

A two part question:

Do the mods or anyone else have the power to change my screen name? I used "Jim" ages ago just to put up a quick query, but now that I am slowly de-lurking I wouldn't mind a more interesting name...

Secondly; is it the general consensus that there are too many "iconics" floating around the boards?

I was considering changing my name to Immovable Rod with a little "iconic magic item" sig or Magic Missile with an "iconic spell" icon... but if this is just going to really obviously make me look like I'm jumping on the bandwagon (Which, of course, I am) then I won't...

This is not a major issue. If it can't be done I'm fine with it... don't go to too much trouble for little me...

Oh, PS - can I upload a picture from my own PC to a sig, or does it need to be hosted on the net somewhere?

I think an admin can change a username. Let me know what you'd like it changed to. It won't retroactively change your username on threads you've started, I don't think, but better now than later I guess.

As far as your sig: a) yeah the pic has to be hosted somewhere, and b) to quote Chief Wiggum: "If it feels good, do it!"

I think I'll settle on Magic Missile as a name if that's OK. Now I need to get to work on a sig image.

Actually, it did for me. I changed (actually extended) my name around January 2003 and now all my posts are posted by "Ravellion". It did take a while though... perhaps the database needs to be refreshed or something like that ?
