Post Apocalyptic Fantasy

War is fun kids <thinks> hmm or not

Well I dunno about the post apoclyptic thingy

I just had a few things to say. The gods leave when they feel their power is loosening or they are loosing something by staying. If the landscape is blasted then magic becomes distrusted, and beyond that mages and such are almost hated. That is when everyone looks to the druids and natrual healers for aid. While they don't like magic, druids are the most pure form of 'magic' that exists. They are seen as healers of the world. Blessing the simple things, crops, and helping the people. So because of that sudden rise in power I don't think the nature gods would hit the trail, I think they would stay. I believe they would have enough foresight to realize that power that is offered here and that their followers need their help. But who knows, it is up to you.

With all the focus on Nature and life, I think that druids would become the most powerful class. They would be allowed to keep their spells (because the gods didn't leave) and would be respected because of their closness to the natural (and thus the commoners) order of things. THe people can relate to them having to farm for life and live with nature, not off of it. So there would be a surge of power pumped into the Druid's order. This could do a lot, for druids that is.

Also I wouldn't get rid of Sor, they are too fun. Also they are born with magic. I would see this as being, not common, but more typical then the taught mage in this day and age. THe magic that still flows around the planet is easily focused on to the children and creates a lot of innate magic users. However they are feared and hated because of what they did to the world (well not what they did but what the power did) so are taught at a very young age NOT to use their powers and to forgett them. So PC's can be Magic users (sor) but they will suffer the conciquences of social pressure and also would have to be careful where they use their powers, in some places ;) it is punishable by death.

It would also seem that the people would not be ready to trust large forms of government yet :) so bards would be popular wondering from town to town they would have a lot of power. Poeple want to hear news and stories and get away from the crops. They dont' ahve people running fairs and circuses anymore because people don't want to give people power anymore. SO they flock to the travelers for tales to amuse them. THe Bards role would be played highly if they were good. THey could get a lot of things in a place with little entertainment.

Just my two cents :) I hope it helped you hehe

What a coincidence. I'm also replaying the Fallout games right now, too, and I am also working on a post apocalyptic campaign setting...

Well who isn’t? I’ve been working on a post apocalyptic setting for couple of years now. And while it’s been almost complete for a long time now, I never seem to get it completed. I guess that’s one of those projects that just never gets done for me. And yes I started this whole never-ending project of mine while playing Fallout.

Hmmmm... well have you hosted a game yet for it, Howling Coyote? If you're still interested in it, you should get with a group of players and play in it.

I've tried couple of times, but there has always been something that has put it on hold before I have even got started (not enough interested players, bad or incomplete plot idea, time constraints, etc.)
Well there's another reason too. I lost almost all my notes last autumn in a computer crash. Luckily I can remember most of it by heart (photographic memory is such a wonderful thing ;))
Currently I just don't have time for it, because I'm the GM in three games already, and a player in more games than I care to remember. When you add to that my work and my personal life (do I really have one??? ;)). So I'm darn busy right now.
