Posting Times?

Hi all,

just wondering if there is a problem with the time on the server.

I saw this at the bottom of a post:
All times are GMT +10 hours. The time now is 05:54 PM.

Yet the current time is 3:50pm, so posts were showing up from the future.

And yes, the timezone is correct.

Dunno... it's showing the correct time for my timezone. You're sure you have it set correctly in your CP?

Yep, went and checked.

I'm in Eastern Australia, which is GMT + 10 (+11 during daylight saving, which starts in a few weeks).

The 4pm news is about to be on the radio, yet:
---
All times are GMT +10 hours. The time now is 06:03 PM.
---

Very odd. Well, the "quick fix" is to just set it to GMT +8 for now. In the meantime I'll see if I can figure out what's wrong.

Had a similar problem. I live in Arizona and had to set it all the way to Alaska timezone to get the right time for my posts.

You'll need to purchase warmer clothing to wear while posting.

hehe, or the times need to be fixed. Rather used to having to adjust time since Arizona does not use Daylight Savings time. Currently we are the same time as California, in a couple weeks when the rest of the US changes we will be the same as Mountain. Still doesn't explain why I had to choose Alaska time to get the right time.

Speaking of Daylight Savings Time. Can someone not chronologically challenged figure out if that is what is causing the problem? My poor little head just swims when I try to figure how that would effect the times.

Edit : NM, when times change, they won't in Arizona and we will be the same time as mountain, and still have to choose Alaska so DST is not the problem. The time is def off. Is the original Greenwich Mean Time set right?

Usually what causes problems like this is that the server time itself is not set to GMT. It is most likely set to Daylight time in a timezone at or near GMT.
