potent charge and barbarian ?'s

Ok this is probably a noob question but just starting out playing D&D again
I have a Minotaur Fighter (maybe Barbarian). I had a question about Potent Challenge
If you hit a foe with an attack granted by your combat challenge class feature, add your Con mod (+4) to the damage roll

Ok first if what is a combat challenge class feature, and say my mod for my con is +4 does that mean I get +8 or I just the the higher of the two which means just a +4 bonus period.

And any examples would be helpful. Thanks for any help

Any suggestions on a feat would be helpful. Given the fact I dont know much I have to say just getting a +4 bonus to my initiative seems to be looking pretty good.

just in case anyone has any suggestions my stats are 19,19,15,13,14,14

And on the barbarian side I dont completely understand how the rage works in regards to rage/rage power . rage strike.. such as where it says you must have one unused rage power. Where do you get the power and how do you generate it? Are they points that you accumulate? This new set of rules unless im missing something arent very complete.

and if it is the case of you taking for example your con bonus (+3)
whats the point of having a high stat if they are going to give you a default of 2,3,4 anyways on all of your abilities. Personally I think that ruins this game if thats the way it truely works.

Combat Challenge is detailed on page 76 of the PHB.

As for Barbarians.

All barbarian daily attack powers are their rages. To use Rage Strike you have to currently be under the effect of one of you rages and have one Barbarian Daily attack power that you haven't used yet. If you meet this prerequisite you can then spend a daily power to use Rage Strike. The damage that Rage Strike does is based on the level of the Daily power you spent to attack with Rage Strike.

Rage Strike is basicly unusable till you hit 5th level. The whole purpose of Rage Strike is to let a Barbarian use more then one Daily attack power without changing which rage effect he is under.

I have no idea what you are asking here.

The number in the bracket shows the modifier to be added (which is in turn derived from the appropriate stat), and is not meant to be a cap on how much can be added. For example, if your con is 26, the damage bonus will be +8. They simply listed it there for easy reference so you don't need to keep double-checking your con score for the correct value.:)
