Potent Poison Pricing Problem

Hey,

How much would be a respectable (and balanced) cost to increase the DC of a poison? If you payed double the cost of a dose, would double the DC be too much? What if it was triple? (the cost, not the DC..let's not go nuts.) How much do you think it should cost to increase the DC by only 50%?

Have any of you created just the rules I'm looking for? (Please post them or direct me if you do).

Thanks,

J from Three Haligonians

There is a pretty good (the best one currently available in my experience) poison creation system in Blue Devil Games' "PoisonCraft" - available in PDF and print.

IMHO, double price would grant a linear increase in DC (probably +2 for each doubling).

I'm with Nifft. Higher DC is a fairly powerful thing. Think of what it takes to get it on a spell. Magic items use a square system for pricing their bonuses, this seems in line. Each doubel is another notch up in power. +2 seems a reasonable amount, also.

Doubling DCs doesn't work well. Remember, you've got a d20 base. So a poison with a DC 11 save joe peasant with +0 Fort will make half the time. Double that, and they'll never make it (except a 20 always saves). From half effectiveness to 100% effectiveness is more then just the cost of two doses.
