Picard has the same talent - I remember an episode (I watched a rerun of it a few weeks ago) where he was able to figure out that the two only survivors of a planetary raid from an unknown alien species were not what they claimed to be, but instead another kind of alien and a "copy" of his wife (who died during the raid)... It was, in regards to getting to the "right" conclusion, very similar to Sherlock Holmes. So, Starfleet Captains just can do these thinks. Probably it is a special ability of the Prestige Class "Starfleet Commanding Officer" or at least a Feat on their Bonus Feat list. :) 2Ranger REG: Maybe they can`t and don`t want to stop making Startrek based series and movies - It is a very succesful franchise, and Paramount wants it to make as much money as possible - and since it still makes money, there is no reason to end it, even if some authors and producers think it would be better to pause for a while. 2John Crichton: I know that Babylon 5 and DS9 aired around the same time, but that does not mean they didn`t have the problem - Sometimes, a story some authors of Bab5 might have thought of but didn`t implement yet would be used and already aired on DS9, or vice versa. And sometimes they didn`t notice their similarities, but the audience might, and found one or both of the series lacking creative ideas. Some people accused the people on DS9 to copy the Babylon 5 story arc (Great interstellar War, Sisko/Sheridan as religious icon , introducing a warship to the station), even if many of the aspects seem to be logical developments or actings to please the audience. (I currently watch the DS9 reruns - the Dominion did already appear in the beginning of the 2nd season, but only as a mysterios figure in the background - there are some hints here and there, and it seems also as if the Dominion wasn`t very friendly and peaceful. It seems to me that it was a more or less planned storyline ...) Mustrum Ridcully
