[PR Campaign Suite] Twin Rose opens up character generation in CS in free trial!

Twin Rose

First Post
I've decided, after long thought, to open up the character generation portion of
Campaign Suite to all users. This means you can now load and save characters, print
them, and export them to your own character sheets or RTF statblocks. Now, even if
your GM has the full version of Campaign Suite, you don't have to as you'll be able to
send your characters to him anyway.

With the Trial, you will have full access to feat, spell, and skill editors - however, you
will be limited to only 12 classes and prestige classes. The race editor will limit you to
8 races. You can edit the existing classes and races, but you will not be able to add
any more, such as from our Librum Equitis and other expansions.

With the free trial, you will also have access to the Arms & Armor and Norse Gods
expansions that are included, thanks to our friends at Bastion Press. Much of the Wild
Spellcraft expansion, asside from the Prestige Classes included, will also be usable
free. (See our site for a link to download the Wild Spellcraft expansion, and for
information on how you can find these fine products in print).

Other benefits for registration include character list management, and monster
statblocks on export of dungeons. You will also have unlimited access to class and
race editors, as well as the ability to install many of our expansion products.

We hope that by opening up the character generator to all users, whether they are able
to register the product or not, will bring the many features of Campaign Suite to many
gaming tables and save people time everywhere.

Thank you all for your support.

Cool idea.

Thank you. Felt it was more important to have the program being enjoyed by more people, in many ways, than it was to try and annoy them - there's a difference between the D20 industry and the general software industry, and I feel at this time that it is better to have the product being enjoyed by more folks than to try and annoy people into registration.

I'm hoping that we generate more fan support, which we already have a good amount of, to encourage more gaming groups to use the software.

I agree with you on that - I'd never consider doing this with a traditional market*, but it looks good with d20.

* It seems Adobe thinks this is a good idea even in a normal market - did you see their new $80 version of Photoshop? Making a program that similar to the core program at that small fraction of the normal cost is surprising, to say the least.

Well, one thing that has been weighing heavily on me is the fact that a version of CS was 'cracked' back in February and has actually seen more distribution than the actual version! The program has come a VERY long way since February, and I don't feel that the 'advertising' that it gets is really all that hot.

So, I'm hoping that by providing more and more features free, people will have a better chance to really check out, examine, and enjoy the program.

Plus, it's just in keeping with the spirit of the market right now, a lot of people are providing more and more without cost. I felt that it was in good spirit to become one of them.

I wanted to thank everyone for their support isnce we've decided to offer this. Our downloads have certainly gone way up, and a lot of you have come and seen our site and are giving us a look - or a second look, as the case may be.

Enjoy!

One of my players found that cracked copy and tried to get me to use it in my game (I use a laptop at the gaming table when I DM). I flatly refused and warned him off of such ill gotten goods. He subsequently got rid of the cracked copy as I wouldnt even let him use it to gen characters for my game. I wish I could say that he saw the error of his ways and immediately purchased it, but such is not the case. However, he no longer has the cracked copy and now that character gen is free I will at least allow him to bring a character to the table that he generated in CS. I just didnt want any pirated software at my gaming table or on my laptop.

Do you guys take check or money order?

Personally, I wish the Trial allow 1 to 3 additional, vacant class slots for us to input, rather than just edit or delete the classes included with software.

Yes, paypal allows for e-checks and also they can be mailed to me. There's information for this on the "buynow" page.

I thought about allowing that, but what I did was left 1 "extra" slot for the Arcane Archer PRC so that people could see how Prestige classes worked. I figured people could delete that one, or modify it, easily enough.
