August 12, 2002-Seattle, WA: This past weekend, at the GenCon Game Fair in Milwaukee, 25,000 four page, full color preview flyers for Green Ronin's impending Mutants & Masterminds RPG were put in the hands of the most dedicated gamers in North America. The preview also appears in this month's Game Trade Magazine, and more will be distributed at the Alliance Open House and through Diamond Comics.

"All told, we're giving out over 50,000 copies of the preview," says Green Ronin President Chris Pramas, "and that's just the opening salvo of our Mutants & Masterminds marketing barrage."

In addition to the preview, a series of print ads is getting out the message that Mutants & Masterminds is THE d20 superhero game. Ads are appearing in PC Gamer, Dragon Magazine, Dungeon Magazine, and Dork Tower, whose combined readerships are in excess of half a million gamers.

"The market has become crowded since we announced the game last December," adds Pramas, "so we are showing superhero fans why Mutants & Masterminds will be worth the wait."

For those not at GenCon, the four page preview is now available as a PDF download from Green Ronin's website (www.greenronin.com). The game itself launches in October.

I really like the damage rules, even though they're surprisingly close to the super-quick starship combat rules I've been fiddling with for Gnomish Space Patrol. And I thought I was being sooo clever, too.

Dragongirl: the half million refers to the estimated combined circulation of Dungeon, Dragon, Dork Tower, and PC Gamer, where they took out ads, not the 50k flyers they gave out at GenCon.

Eric: Not sure if I agree with that... the d20 System logo is on the cover image, and "witness the origin of a d20 legend". Wizards is claiming "d20" as a trademark now, not just "d20 System".

Chris: Great preview! D20 or OGL, I will definitely be buying this game. And the sample fight gives me something to do tomorrow, seeing I'm unprepared for game night. ;) Thanks!

My HeroClix are going to get a second life!

Me, I'm using Playmobil as miniatures for superhero games.

Right now, I use Natural 20's wonderful Four Color to Fantasy, but I believe Mutants and Masterminds will force me to think about it. I suppose I will play a week 4CtF, next week M&Ms, next 4CTF and so one...

In the fall, after d20 Modern goes into the SRD. It'll be a free online minigame (like the ones Polyhedron does.) Just imagine cheesy 50's sci-fi, but with gnomes.

This is, in my humble opinion, a concept that must see the light of day! I'll be looking forward to it :D
