[PR] OWC introduces new line: VERGO

Heck, even if it was softcover we'd still charge around $25 for it. It's just the nature of the game. While I'd love to be able to produce veritable tomes for next to nothing, this is a business, and companies need to make money in order to survive.

You guys rock. I, for one, am tired of the following scenario:

Designer: "Hello, I am a professional game designer."
Pundit: "I'm sorry. Would you like me to send you some food?"

I applaud your efforts to raise prices to the level where you and your freelancers make decent money.

Thanks for the kind words Christian! I know that slightly higher prices may turn some people off, and I'm sorry about that. However, like you said, we need to make a decent amount of money that will pay for printing, art, layout, freelancers, and put food on the table for me, my wife, and my two kids.

I know that a lot of people in the industry feel that prices should be higher, and an equal amount feel that prices are too high right now. One way or another we'll find out who's right.

Well you can justify it all you like but from everything I've read here and heard from locals, less and less people are willing to front that much cash for non-essential sourcebooks. $30US = ~$45 CDN. I'm not about to spend that on a toolkit book. There's some real market data for ya. :)

You'd be astonished at the difference between what some people say on an internet forum, and what actually goes on in the stores.

At Decipher we had. . .well, *everyone* bitch about the price of the Adventure Game for LotR. Yet it's selling really well and making us some nice money. Had we listened to the consumers, we'd have charged $10 for it and lost a *lot* of money. Lose money, make money. I pick make money!! :)

*shrug*

I for one have never had a problem paying good money for a good product.

I thought $40 for the FRCS was overpriced, compared to some of the other books.

Having read it, I'd have gladly paid $60. (Shh. Don't tell WotC. :))

I hate to say it, but if the product looks to be useful to me and something that interests me, then I'll pay any fair price for it.

Fair meaning to all concerned.

I for one like hardcovers best I wish everything over !50 pages would be hardcovers.

Also Thanks for answering my question Hyrum.I'm looking forward to Diomin done right if its anything like your more recent products it will worth rebuying.
