[PR]Requiem for a God Coming Soon!

DMs Rejoice!

A new toolbox is on the way.

Ever read an adventure that involved some epic event you wanted to use but it would be too difficult to figure out how to put it in your campaign?

Ever read a novel or seen a movie with a cool event that you wanted to incorporate into your game, but the task just seemed too daunting?

Do you just want to shake things up?

The Event Book line from Malhavoc Press is for you.

These books are a resource for anyone interested in advice and specific suggestions for how to incorporate a particular event into their campaign. An event book provides not only ideas, but examines each one and describes the implications of incorporating them into your campaign. It tells you how to create an event that will make for interesting background, or one that will change everything in the whole game—or something in between. Sure, you could buy an adventure about the cool event, but wouldn’t you rather have something that actually tells you how to put it in YOUR game?

The first in this line of books is Requiem for a God. This 64-page book provides all the guidelines you need to knock off a god in your campaign world—not from the PCs point of view (this isn’t an epic-level god-killing book), but from the campaign’s point of view. What happens when a god dies? What becomes of the clerics and the worshippers? What happens to all that power that has been loosed into the universe? Is there a corpse? What does this mean to the PCs? What new organizations and adventures might spring from this event? All these questions and more are answered by Requiem for a God.

The event book also describes two new organizations, a whole new type of feat (the Godsblood feat), new spells, magic items and monsters all involved in the event.

Requiem for a God comes out as a PDF in late August and as a print product in November and is 64 page long. The PDF will run $7 and will be available through montecook.com or rpgnow.com, while the print product will be $12.95 and will be found at your favorite game or bookstore. It was written by Monte Cook, author of the Dungeon Master’s Guide, and is illustrated by Sam Wood, with a cover by Kieran Yanner.

I like seeing the Sword & Sorcery logo on the book since the Scarred Lands are a terrific "guide" to what happens when gods die. Sounds like another interesting book, Mr. C!

Thank You Monte

Your new ideas are boundless. Your products are constantly delving away from the "fishhooking method" that most writers use. By the way that was a incognito curse directed at the KING of fishhooking...George Lukas. Burn in hell George!
Anyway, coming from a (to this day) die-hard Planescape fan, thank you.

Not to burst anyone's buble, but Mayfair did an "event' book a long time ago. Something like Apocalypse or something. I'm very interested to see how Monte's book goes as his writing has continued to enthrall my players and I in PrCs, magic items, and of course, adventure. I'm interested to see what's next. Plague? War? Planar Invasion ala Magician? Should be good stuff.

Well I think those are some good, traditional ways, but I'd also like to see things like "Dead Magic" or Decaying Magics. Perhaps even a Dm Tool dealing with the event "Destroying an Artifact"
