Practical Cauldron Born Question [SPOILER]

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
What were the Obscurati planning to do with the Colossus if everything went according to plan? Assuming Borne was fully operative, when and how did they plan to move him out?

Also, why does he emerge into the 'real world' and not the Bleak Gate when he does so?

Apologies if any of these questions are covered in the adventure, but I couldn't find them.

The next stage would basically have been to use the lantern to stabilize it in the Bleak Gate as they excavated an exit topside. Carefully the colossus would have been guided to the sea, where a massive, custom-built barge would have awaited to carry it to Axis Island. Once there it would have lifted the giant golden seal and extracted the petrified white trees. The Ob would have placed new icons attuned to the planes they desire to use into those trees, then reseated them into the ground. Then it would lower the gold plate and Ob mages would have completed the ritual.

Something vaguely similar will happen at the end of adventure 9, except that the colossus won't be strong enough, and it will fail to properly close the seal.

Thanks for the reply.

So, failing the reawakening of Borne due to Grappa's interference, how might the secret base respond to the intrusion of the RHC? Simply flee and leave the golem behind?

Surely they couldn't hope to fend off Risuri forces indefinitely?

I ask only so that I can play their reaction out more 'realistically' at the table. Unaware that Grappa is with the group, what would/could Quital hope to achieve?

(Oh, and the colossus popped out because the veil on Cauldron Hill is thin, and he tore it.)

Leone would assume that Risur could not feasibly send a large force due to the limitations of magic, so he'd hold position and have someone sending for help. There's probably some secret one-way teleportation circle out, down near the feet of the colossus, that he might flee too when things look hopeless. But the facility is pretty sturdily defended.

As I think about it, maybe it would actually have been a protocol to unleash an unfinished colossus, to make it easier to recover later. Any poor trampled townsfolk are the omelet's eggs.
