Yes. The limit is your Hit Dice. Class levels in the spellcasting class, Practiced Spellcaster is applied to, are irrelevant to that end.

It's a feat I may wind up taking for my fighter/wizard as the first level of the PrC I'm going into, Eldritch Knight, loses a level of spellcasting ability and another class I'm thinking of, Human Paragon, also loses another level.

Just something that comes to mind due to the way people are wording this...

Remember that this feat only increases your Caster Level, it does not net you additional casting ability. In the Rogue 5 / Assassin 1 example, you will still only be able to cast 1 1st level spell (assuming you have the INT for the bonus spell) but you would cast that 1st level spell at a caster level of 5.

Not sure if that needed saying but something struck me in the comments above that it might.

Keep in mind that the bonus feat from Eldritch Knight must be a Fighter bonus feat. Therefore, you can't choose Practiced Spellcaster, or anything else magic-related unless it counts as a Fighter bonus feat.

I'm still trying to figure out what spell to take for my bonus feat. I've been thinking Weapon Focus with Rays or something.

[Off-Topic] That depends on your concept. ;)

If you really have no idea, Improved Toughness is always a good feat with those lowish hps. :)
