OK, now I am a highly trained PrC specialist, and nay sayer, so rein me in if I am heading in the wrong direction. OK, first, the basics: Pre reqs: The most demanding that I see is heal 6+, which means a L3 character could take a level of this PrC. generally speaking, WotC advises PrCs be avaible no earlier than 5th or 6th level. You can bump the ranks, add a second skill req. (I suggest Know(nature) perhaps, use BAB or even a high will save (since the "ancient being" wants her disciples to resist her fear). Skills list: remove Spot, this is not a rogue PrC, nor to I see anywhere in the write up, a mention of heightened awareness. Typically Concentration is only added to PrC that cast spell - does not look like this class does...although you should define all the abilities as exceptional, natural, supernatural, or spell-like. Consider adding swim, climb, jump, or balance to reinforce the "lives in the swamps/by the sea" influence this PrC has. You have a mentor who is a water creature, whose protoge's spend a "dramatically appropriate amount of time" - yet no swim skill? Like the 4 skill point/level. BAB: Not a fighter class, or anything resembling a fighter class. Drop the fighter BAB, and change this to clerical BAB progression. Let's not devalue fighter-types more than they already are! saves: I'm with you on this one - stong Fort to resist toxins, stong Will to resist fear effects - you go seasong! Specials: OK, this class may not have enough specials! One strong possibility. MAke it a 5 level PrC and add a bunch of these specials together. If we do not go that route, there are still a number of things we can do to give this PrC some flesh/bite: Add some: +1 spell caster level. I would suggest none at L1, add at levels 2&3, none at L4, add at level 5&6, repeat as needed. The ability to resist fear (+4 to saves, maybe?), or a progressive immunity to fear. The ability to generate fear. DC = 10+1/2 PrC level+CHA bonus Water breathing (self only) Limited Wild shape, or perhaps Alter self (to asusme a form that can breather water or swim, or perhaps move about in mud/muck more easily. Bardinc Knowledge - works for sea related knowledge only. to simluate the passing of knowledge from the being to the character, during the "dramatically appropriate amount of time" Not that actual liklihood of knowing anything will be low, because only PrC levels will count as Lore levels - but still it's a chance, and DMs set DCs anyway... Auto heal: once a day if the Black healer is knocked into negative, a cure light wounds spell (or cure minor, if cure light is too stong), could trigger. Freedom of movement: that operates continuously, but only with respect to natural movement impediments (quicksand, thick brush, heavy snow, etc) - not that this does not protect one agains any damage dealing effect these weathers might have (frostbite, etc). some downsides - a few suggestiosn to add roleplay "flavor" Hunger: the character must eat 2-4x as much as normal, if not then PC mast make a will save (DC variable, based on days of "hunger"), or fly into Rage, and attack (and eat), the nearest liiving creaure. Connects will with the mentor's devouring aspect. Alien mind: -2 to all sense motive, bluff, diplomacy, and attitude checks twds NPCs as a result of adopting the "ancient one's" mindset. THis progresses to -4 in the highest level of the PrC Amphibian: a disadvantage that occurs in the later levels of the PrC - the Blakc healr begins to need[/i[ to be near the water, suffering dehydrations effects, for every FULL 24 hours, out of contact with a large body of salt or fresh water. Also, I might bump the fast healing to 2 pts/level. Not that it makes a hige difference (becasue at high level, there is only IN COMABT, and OUT OF COMBAT), but 1 pt a level just seems stingy for L10 of a PrC. If you go with a 5 level PrC though, 1 is fine! ...See!? I come through for ya, sometimes!
